Studied Architecture at Edinburgh University & Glasgow!s Strathclyde University. Registered Architect since 1988. Former experience with private practices in Scotland, public sector with Haringey Borough Council and was a Senior Architect/ team leader with Hull City Council responsible for major new housing and dock-land developments, and estate housing renovation projects.
Established own practice in Northern Ireland 1992 and has received awards from RIAI and RSUA for "The Narrows! and The Old Mill. Other buildings have been published by Architecture Today and Perspectives on Architecture.
Has been a member of NI. Building Regulations Advisory Committee from 1994-2001 and on the Historic Buildings Council. Until recently the convenor of the RSUA's Sustainability Committee and on RSUA Council.
Experienced in integrating accessible design, conservation of historic buildings and specification of ecological building materials. ArchiCAD user.
Registered as an Ecohomes Assessor.
Co-author of “Hemp and Lime Construction – a guide to Building” Published by BRE Press.
Contributor to Website entitled “Sustain and Build” on hemp-lime construction, Ecohomes and Lifetime Homes. This is a website aimed at increasing the knowledge about sustainable construction, funded through Building Control Dept.
